Congratulations to the Washington Spirit award winner for this week- Mrs. Spinden! She joined our staff as a full time Social Worker last fall. She jumped right in to help students and staff! Everyday she shows up with a smile. We appreciate the knowledge she brings to Washington and her willingness to learn. Thank you Mrs. Spinden!

Our Washington Spirit Award goes to Mrs. Shipman! She is one of our Kindergarten teachers. She is always positive and full of energy. She is kind and patient with everyone. She always willing to try new things to help support her students and coworkers. She works hard to ensure everyone who steps foot into her classroom feels like family!

Day #9 in the life of a Washington Student: NURSE APRIL! Nurse April won our Spirit of Washington award for this week! She is always smiling and working hard to fix up students and staff. She has taken numerous trainings to support the medical needs of our students. She is kind and never shy to reach out to parents! We appreciate you Nurse April!

Day #8 in the life of a Washington Student: Sensory Breaks! Sometimes our students have big feelings or just need a break! We have two sensory paths, two sensory rooms, and a sensory wall! They are used to improve focus/attention and support emotional regulation.

Day #7 in the life of a Washington Student: our school environment We make small improvements all the time to make our school more welcoming. Check out some of our improvements made over the summer!

Day #6 in the life of a Washington Student: PE Did you know our students have 40 minutes of PE everyday? We start each PE class with stretches and warm ups. Then students have fun while learning organized games and spacial awareness!

This was our first week handing out our Washington Spirit Award to a staff member who exemplifies ALL the values of Dixon Public Schools: a team player, supportive, positive and solution focused!
