Dixon USD 170 Seeks Stakeholder Participation in Superintendent Search
The Dixon Public Schools Board of Education is continuing its search for the district’s next permanent superintendent with the support of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) Executive Search team.
As the Board narrows the field of candidates to semifinalists, community input will play an important role in the final selection process. On the evening of Wednesday, October 29th, a representative group of district staff, parents, and community members will have the opportunity to meet with the semifinalist candidates, hear them respond to questions, and provide feedback to the Board.
Those interested in volunteering must be available from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 29th and should email Erin Grubic at egrubic@dps170.org or call 815-373-4966 by Friday, October 17th. If the number of volunteers exceeds available spots, participants will be selected to ensure broad representation across the community. If selected, you will be sent additional information about the interview process.

Our Washington Spirit winner for last week was Annie Lengquist! She is a para in our Functional Communication room. She always goes above and beyond for her students. She advocates for their needs and is always willing to step in and help students who are not in her classroom. She is a leader when it comes to Conscious Discipline and our DESPA union. We are thankful for her! Thank you Mrs. Lengquist!
As you can see, Collins agrees that she is AMAZING! 😆

Homecoming Week is 9/29-10/3! Join us for some fun dress up days!

Why does Attendance Matter? Because everyday counts—and so does your child!
When your student is in school consistently, they’re not just keeping up with lessons—they’re building strong habits, friendships, and the confidence to succeed. Missing even a few days here and there can make it harder to catch up and stay engaged. Regular attendance helps your child stay connected, supported, and ready to reach their full potential. Let’s team up to help them thrive—one day at a time! 🏫🎒📝

This week our Washington Spirit Stick goes to Mrs. Olson! She is a 1st grade teacher. Mrs. Olson inspires, adapts, and supports her students every single day. She’s proactive and always brings thoughtful solutions instead of just pointing out issues. She stays calm when things get busy and always makes learning fun — we’re lucky to have her at Washington School!
Congratulations Mrs. Olson!!!
